Slow One - The Double Cross

The new one from these Godfathers of CanRock. This sounds like the Beatles, the Kinks and The Cars rolled into one. These dudes are Canadian Rock royalty. Power pop at it's absolute best. This album totally slays.

Thrush Hermit

Thrush Hermit hailed from the fertile scene of Halifax, NS in the early 90's, a scene that produced both Sloan and Eric's Trip. Like Sloan, Thrush Hermit had three distinct singer/songwriters each contributing material, which made each release a grab-bag of influences. Beatles harmonies, grunge guitars, 70's glam, power-pop and punk rock all mixed together into one rad sound. The Smart Bomb EP has my two favourite songs by the band, "Hated It" and "French Inhale", two of the best alternative songs to ever come out of Canada. Sweet Homewrecker was their US major label debut that failed to launch them into the stratosphere, which is a shame because it is a great album full of rock stompers and power-pop bangers. They have another full-length and several EP's that are worth checking out (and can be posted by me if anyone is interested) but these are my two favourite releases.
